The day at Six Flags

When the girls were younger we had season passes to Six Flags. After a few years we pretty much stopped going so I stopped buyingg them. Allyson has wanted to go all summer so I had decided by the time Fright Fest would roll around my foot would be ready for it. Over Labor day weekend they ran a special for a season pass for next year plus free parking for 50 dollars. Regular admission price is 45 and parking is outrageous at 20 bucks a visit. So I bit the bullet and bought Allyson, Kayla and I passes. Well today we decided to go and activate them. The park had hardly anyone there so there was no waiting. So within 90 minutes we had ridden Ninja, Mine Train, Boomerang, Superman and Screaming Eagle. Ok I am not sure what I was thinking because after the screaming eagle I had to go to the bathroom and vomit. And by vomit I don’t mean once or twice, it was multiple times. And let me just say I can barely tolerate McDonald’s coffee and coming back up was ten times more bitter than going down. I was done after that and the kids rode Mr. Freeze by themselves. It was about the time I finished  when I remembered why I stopped going to Six Flags. It can be summed up in four words! I AM TOO OLD! When I was younger my dad took my sister and I to Six Flags every summer. We would arrive when it opened, and stay until closing. I have no idea how he did this. And probably about five years after the screaming eagle opened (I was 9 when it opened and we waited 2 1/2 hours to ride it) we rode it 8 times in a row. I don’t even think I could ride it twice now without my head pounding. Speaking of which, I feel like I have a massive hangover so I am going back to laying down.

Lesson learned from today, next time I go I am sticking to the log flume and the old-time cars!

My 24 hour fast from Facebook

First of all do not laugh because it was only 24 hours because I learned a lot in a short time.

It all started yesterday morning when I read a post that I thought was directed at me. I immediately sent an apology text and then decided I had enough and was getting off of Facebook for a while. I heard back and the post was not for me but since the last few weeks have been rough I just assumed. So then I felt better and decided to stay deactivated for 24 hours. Here are some things I noticed.

1. I was a lot more attentive to the people around me and my surroundings.

2. It was nice not checking FB constantly to read my notifications.

3. It was really nice not knowing Suzy had picked her nose and ate her boogers. And then to read fifteen different peoples reactions.

4. If I needed to know something I had to pick up the phone and talk to a real live person.

5. I did miss my two groups. One is piyo and it’s all newbies trying it out and supporting each other. My other group is lead by a gal at my church that has lost 110 pounds via weight watchers and exercise. This months exercise challenge was running or walking 100 miles. Now I am not that crazy and set my goal at 50. That should be plenty.

6. I also need my photo album to finish documenting my cake finds. I need therapy about that but that is a whole different post.

So my take away from this is I am going to delete the Facebook app from my phone. This will greatly reduce my time on it. I will leave messenger on in case someone from one of my groups need to reach me but Facebook has to go.

Mole moral it has been greatly refreshing not to have even checked Facebook since 7:30 am yesterday! And the post which brought initial hurt turned out bringing great joy. Which makes me think of Josh Williams song before the morning.

Little Critter

9780307119407Of all the kids books, I love these second to Frog and Toad. (I’ll save that for another day). Anyway Brian would read these to the kids but he would say Little Cry Ter (remember fun with texting) and make them crazy. They would scream its Little Critter and he would say yes Little Cry Ter. And they would get so mad. So earlier in the week Allyson and I went to Kohl’s to find her a one piece swimming suit for Big Stuf camp. When we walked in they had Little Critter stuffed animals on the Kohl’s care rack so we had to buy two. One for Allyson and one for Emily. Kayla never really read them much. So we mailed Emily’s hers with a new book. Just Go To Bed was my all time favorite. We borrowed Just a Gum Wrapper from the neighbors diagonal (the Feager’s) and never gave it back. It is still in the bookshelf. It might be embarrassing to give it back 15 years later. And the fact I remember this trivial information is scary. I am happy to report the post office safely delivered Emily’s Little Critter to her mailbox today. And I also got a refund check for the lost textbooks so I can stop talking about it. Remember when in doubt purchase insurance, best five dollars I ever spent!!
